Divas Run 10k for RNLI

The weather was amazing for todays santa 10 and 5 k fun runs in Southsea in support of the RNLI.

So it was an early start for a Sunday on the Hovercraft at 09.15, over to Southsea by the pyramids, The grotto opened at ( am for santa suit collection. Once all Dressed there was enough time for photos and to listen to the samba band who were good fun and the atmosphere was vey christmassy. Southseas sea front looked stunning in a sea of red and white.

The samba band helped us to warm up (spot Kelly in the warm up photo below) before our 10.50 start.

Before we ran all santas were singing christmas carols, then off we went.

It was a relaxed run, with no time pressures, though it is not the easiest hing to do, run in a santa suit, i am afraid i lost the beard at the 2 k mark as it became very itchy!!

The hardest part was the 800 metre run on the shingle beach. There had been stormy weather which had also left the pavements covered in shingle and seaweed so us santas had to tread carefully to avoid any damage to ourslves so close to our big day!! :)

I finished the race in 57 minutes which i was very pleased with (especially after the christmas shindig the nitght before)

I am now the proud owner of a santa run thermous, a santa run pen, and a santa run medal. I am proud to have finished and proud to have contributed to the RNLI.
